Boys’ Latin is the oldest independent, nonsectarian college-preparatory school for boys in Maryland. Guided by our school motto, Esse Quam Videri- To be rather than to seem- Boys’ Latin expects personal excellence from everyone in our community. Integrity is expected in all that we ask of our students as well as our faculty, parents and faithful alumni of our school. With those expectations in place, boys become men of strong character, develop lasting friendships, know the importance of hard work, and understand what it means to be compassionate.

Because of our small class sizes, students don’t just learn…they grow. They grow into responsible, self-reliant, and successful young men. Focused on the future, guided by excellent teachers and staff, our students find that success in our college-preparatory program. Whether within our state-of-the-art learning facilities or beyond, Boys’ Latin students are challenged by rigorous course work, by opportunities to participate in plays and choral events, to compete  in over twelve interscholastic sports, and to discover the importance of helping others by participating in community service projects. Recent educational research has defined the best ways to teach boys.  Boys’ Latin has availed itself of that information and provided educational opportunities to its faculty so that they can become most effective in their teaching of our young men. Certainly that makes Boys’ Latin School a great choice for boys! Boys’ Latin knows how boys think; knows how boys learn and engages all of its students in a vibrant environment so that they can realize their potential and be prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. It is our mission. Certainly these values and educational opportunities are why many families choose Boys’ Latin!

"I think Boys’ Latin does an exemplary job of getting to know – really know and understand – each boy.   In all three divisions, the teachers work very hard to understand each student’s strengths and weaknesses, so that they can help to further develop the areas where each boy excels, and bolster up any areas that may need a little more attention.  It is a collaborative effort – teachers communicate with the parents, the administration and with each other to ensure that each student is challenged and supported in the best possible way."
